Just got back from Amsterdam (Check out the Rijks Museum Pics) and was able to go pick up the C Sharps 1885 High Wall. The gun appears to be new and unfired!
Some Highlights:
C Sharps Arms 1885 Highwall chambered as a 405W - NOT going to be legal for Official BPCR NRA Sanctioned matches, but for pretty much anything else, I believe this will be a fun rifle to shoot
French Gray action and butt plate
Single Set Trigger
Long Range C Sharps Vernier Tang sight
Buckhorn combination barrel mounted sight
Standard blade sight on the front.
34" Barrel by unknown Manufacturer. I know that C Sharps might have been installing the Badger Barrels at this time, but there is no marking to indicate this. I can say that the rifling is beautiful and appears to have a throat on the chamber with a pretty steep lead. I measured it at a 14" twist 6 lands .405X.412 bore. PICTURES
It is Chambered in the 405 Winchester which I will try to develop a black powder load for. Some of the challenges with loading this rifle using a cast Big Bore bullet is that not a lot of companies sell a 400+ grain bullet for this Barrel. I have ordered some 300 Gn MBW gas checked bullets to start and Custom ordered a 435 Grain bullet from Accurate Molds measuring .405x.413.
Mould and the Bullets arrived! I was able to cast some bullets and they are coming in at 440 Grains (20:1).
