New Load Development data posted for the Springfield - 6/11

Load Development Test #4- 100 Yards / 300 yards

June 10th, 2023 - Good day to do some testing. VERY humid and a slight left to right gust of 5-7 knots. Lots of data today so bear with me.

Some reloading notes:

1) 8 rounds at 17.2 Gns of Unique, CCI primer, Once Fired, cleaned, annealed FL resize with AOS Black Lube.

2) 5 rounds at 17.2 Gns of Unique, CCI primer, Once Fired, cleaned, Annealed FL resize with MBW Blue Lube.

2) 5 rounds at 17.2 Gns of Unique, CCI primer, NEW FL resize with MBW Blue Lube.

See the images below for both the 100 yard target and the 300 yard target. I will explain the groups below but there was some interesting data using my Graphite lube. Coincidence? maybe..

Interesting notes: There was a noticeable difference in neck tension from the new cases (tighter neck tension) and the cleaned/annealed (more loose but more consistent?) I assume my annealing process made them slightly softer than new...

Group #1 - 100 yards (3) fowling rounds with graphite lube. Fully clean dry barrel. You will notice that this rifle always throws the cold bore shot about 1.5 MOA right. Interesting node. Notice how loose the group is but then by shot 5 everything comes together.

Group #2 - 100 Yards (5) rounds with my Graphite lube. I was unable to get a velocity on one of the shots, but the STD DEV on this group was pretty Incredible. Notice that the NO.1 shot was left and all the others fell in line after. This would have been the (4th) shot from a completely CLEAN barrel. I wonder if it will take 4 shots to settle down?

Group #3 - 100 Yards (5) Rounds with the exact same load as pictured in the left but used the standard blue lube that comes from MBW. Nice round group, but 1.5 MOA.

I did clean with 3 patches after Group 1,2 to make sure there was no residual lube. I assume this could have played a factor in this group as well..

Group #4 - 300 yards (5) Rounds with the same load and lube as Group #3, and similar results (1.433 MOA). Needless to say this is an honest 1.5 minute group all the way to 300 but the wind may have been a factor as the vertical deviation was pretty good.

Yes .83 STD Deviation with the Graphite Lube. Will try a ten shot group to verify.
