PRIMER TEST #1: YRC, 62 Degrees/74% Humidity/29.90inHg

May 24th, 2023 - First time on the range with the rifle and can say without hesitation that this was a solid purchase.  I performed a Primer/Ladder test just to see if I could get a good feel for what primer might work best in this rifle.  The results were interesting to say the least.  As you can see below, some of the primers actually produced LESS velocity between 16.0 and 16.3 Grains?  Obviously there is a combustion issue or we are at the base of some node. You will also note that most primers started grouping the shots together at about 16.6 - 16.9.  I think this will be a great place to start a load development to see what kind of group this gun may put together.  Lastly, one might wonder if the Federal 215M was still looking for a node in this velocity? It is a very consistent line with a slight plateau where 2 shots came together.

Tough decision here, but I think I will try about 16.9 Grains of Unique with the CCI and WLRM.  It sure appears that there is a node hovering in that 1745FPS range.

Couple of interesting notes here: Standard case size after FL resize is 3.480 from Lapua.  After firing, the cases that had the slightly higher velocities shrunk by about .005 while cases with the 215 stayed the same.  Obturation was not happening.
